Paracetamol
Indications/Uses
Temporary relief of mild to moderate aches & pains. Fever reduction.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn ≥12 yr 2 tab every 8 hr. Do not take >6 tab in 24 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food: Swallow whole, do not crush, chew/dissolve.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Very rare reports of serious skin reactions eg, acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP), SJS, TEN. Discontinue use at 1st appearance of skin rash or any other sign of hypersensitivity; if symptoms persist or worsen, or if new symptoms occur. Do not use for >10 days. Do not use w/ any other product containing paracetamol. Chronic alcohol users. Patients w/ hepatic disease. Taking more than the recommended dose may result in liver damage. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation unless the potential benefit of treatment to the mother outweighs the possible risks to the developing fetus/nursing infant. Not recommended for childn <12 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Anaphylactic reaction, hypersensitivity; fixed eruption, pruritic rash, rash, urticaria; increased transaminases.
Drug Interactions
Possibility of potentiating the anticoagulant effects of warfarin & other coumarin derivatives. High anion gap metabolic acidosis in concomitant use w/ flucloxacillin.
