Ascorbic acid 500 mg (equiv to Ca ascorbate 605.20 mg), Zn 10 mg, cholecalciferol 1,000 IU
Indications/Uses
Prevention & treatment of vit C, Zn & vit D3 deficiencies as well as maintenance & support of immune system function.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ hyperoxaluria or G6PD deficiency; high Ca levels, kidney stones, high blood sugar.
Adverse Reactions
Vit C: Diarrhea, constipation, nausea, vomiting, abdominal cramps/pain, or heartburn. Zn: GI side effects eg, nausea & vomiting w/ doses >40 mg of elemental Zn. Vit D3: Allergic reactions eg, rash/itching; swelling of the face, throat, & tongue; severe dizziness; trouble breathing; changes in heart rhythm including irregular/racing heartbeat.
Drug Interactions
Interfere w/ absorption of quinolone antibiotics (eg, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin), tetracycline antibiotics (eg, doxycycline, minocycline), thyroid medications (eg, levothyroxine), & drugs for osteoporosis (bisphosphonates eg, alendronate). Vit D3: Avoid taking w/ paricalcitol, calcipotriene, doxercalciferol, mineral oil. May decrease or prevent absorption w/ orlistat, or bile acid sequestrants like colesevelam, colestipol, cholestyramine. Digoxin; Al hydroxide; water pills like chlorthalidone, hydrochlorothiazide, & chlorothiazide; Mg hydroxide & Mg citrate; & fosphenytoin.
