Spiriva/Spiriva Respimat Description

Spiriva: Tiotropium inhalation powder, hard capsule 18 μg is a white powder filled into two pieces, light green, opaque hard gelatin capsules (capsule size 3), imprinted with the Boehringer Ingelheim company symbol on the capsule cap and TI 01 on the capsule body, or vice versa. The capsules are oblong, the diameter is about 5.8 mm (capsule cap), the length is about 15.9 mm. Tiotropium inhalation powder, hard capsule 18 μg is applied using the HandiHaler device.
1 capsule for inhalation contains tiotropium 18 mcg equivalent to 22.5 mcg tiotropium bromide monohydrate (INN = tiotropium bromide).
Spiriva Respimat: The delivered dose is 2.5 μg tiotropium per puff (2 puffs per dose).
2.5 μg tiotropium is equivalent to 3.124 μg tiotropium bromide monohydrate (INN = tiotropium bromide).
Tiotropium bromide (Spiriva Respimat) solution for inhalation is a clear, colourless solution of tiotropium bromide monohydrate filled into a 4.5 mL cartridge. Each cartridge contains 30 labeled doses.
The solution is to be used with a Respimat Inhaler. Each actuation of the Respimat Inhaler delivers 2.5 μg tiotropium from the mouthpiece. One dose of 5 μg tiotropium consists of two actuations.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Spiriva: Lactose monohydrate (which contains milk protein).
Spiriva Respimat: Benzalkonium chloride, Disodium edetate, Purified water, Hydrochloric acid for pH adjustment.
