Eytelia's Bioactivated Silicium helps to actively prevent skin aging by improving skin elasticity and firmness. Other ingredients also contribute to the Lightening Cream's skin benefits, namely: Niacinamide and Pancratium maritimum (sea daffodil) extract help to brighten skin, with their antioxidant properties and natural abilities to slow down the natural tanning process.
Vitamin C and Tocopherol: Prevent photodamage and hydrate the skin.
Phytic Acid: Helps to gently exfoliate the skin and even out the complexion.
Potassium Azeloyl Diglycinate: Normalizes sebum production and reduces redness and hyperpigmentation.
Bisabolol: Helps soothe the skin and combat skin irritation and redness.
Silicium (Si) is the second most abundant element in the Earth's crust after carbon. In nature, Si exists in forms such as silicon dioxide (silica) or silicates; in water and fluids, it exists as orthosilic acid (OSA).
In nutrition, silica is naturally found in foods that are normally part of the daily diet. Green beans, bananas, leafy greens, brown rice, and cereal are among the few that have higher Si content than other foods. While these foods may be rich in Si, what is more important than its content in food is its bioavailability. As the food consumed passes through the gastrointestinal system, Si derived from the natural diets may not be broken down readily as they may be highly polymerized, preventing it from being absorbed by the bodies for use.
Silicium has been suggested to be important for the optimal synthesis of collagen and the activation of hydroxylation enzymes (for detoxification). These two actions contribute to improving skin strength and elasticity, two qualities that help combat symptoms of skin aging. It can likewise strengthen hair that is prone to breakage and nails that are brittle. In addition to these benefits, silicium supports collagen mineralization, enhances skin absorption of active ingredients in topical creams, enhances the efficiency of specific molecules, like Vitamin C and Vitamin D.
Bioavailable Silicium by Eytelia: Orthosilicic acid, the simplest silicic acid, present in most plants and animal's body fluids is highly bioavailable (approx. 50%). At neutral pH, it is uncharged and its solubility is limited to 2 mm. In aqueous solutions, monosilicic acid remains soluble for long periods at concentrations of approximately 100 ppm2. In higher concentrations, OSA polymerizes into polysilicic acid, in a structure that is dependent on the pH of the medium as well as the concentration of Si. These polycondensed forms are poorly bioavailable (approximately 7%).
To be absorbed in humans, OSA must be effectively stabilized in order to limit polymerization. Indeed, the bioavailability of Si from monomeric silicic acid is high (around 40% of a Si dose excreted after ingestion) whereas a marginal increase is detected after ingestion of oligomeric or polymeric silica (no excretion detectable).
Eytelia has developed Organic Silicium bio-activated, a molecule of OSA obtained through a unique process of stabilization that maintains OSA exclusively in a monomeric form. Organic Silicium bio-activated (Mesoporosil) is highly bioavailable.
