Silver sulfadiazine (SILVEDERMA) cream is an antimicrobial agent for topical use. It is a sulfonamide that is used, in conjunction with debridement, as a 1% cream for the prevention and treatment of infection in severe burns.
Silver sulfadiazine is also used in other skin conditions, such as leg ulcers, where infection may prevent healing and for the prophylaxis of infection in skin grafting. It is used for the prevention and treatment of Pseudomonas and Staphylococcus infections in all kinds of wounds and ulcers, especially burns.
