Carbocisteine
Indications/Uses
Adjunctive therapy for chronic disorders of the resp tract associated w/ excessive or viscous mucus eg, chronic bronchitis, COPD & otitis media w/ effusion including glue ear.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Childn 6-12 yr 5 mL every 8 hr, 2-5 yr 2.5 mL every 8 hr.
Administration
Should be taken with food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Active peptic ulcer.
Special Precautions
Concomitant use w/ antitussives. Childn <1 yr.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, diarrhea, gastric discomfort, GI bleeding, skin rash.
Drug Interactions
Precipitation w/ dilution of syr containing pholcodine. Antitussives.
