Clonazepam must not be used in patients with known hypersensitivity to benzodiazepines or any of the drug's excipients or those with severe respiratory insufficiency or severe hepatic insufficiency.
Clonazepam ampoules contain benzyl alcohol. Since there have been reports of permanent neuropsychiatric deficits and multiple system organ failure associated with benzyl alcohol, administration to neonates, and especially to premature infants, must be avoided.
