Indications/Uses
Relief of acute bronchospasm & managing intermittent episodes of asthma; chronic maintenance or prophylactic therapy of asthma & prevention of exercise-induced bronchospasm.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Acute bronchospasm & intermittent episodes of asthma Adult & elderly 100 or 200 mcg daily. Childn 100 mcg daily. Chronic maintenance or prophylactic therapy Adult & elderly 200 mcg tid-qid. Childn 100 mcg tid-qid, may be increased to 200 mcg if necessary. Exercise-induced bronchospasm Adult & elderly 200 mcg before exertion. Childn 100 mcg before exertion.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Patients w/ CV disorders especially coronary insufficiency, cardiac arrhythmias & HTN; convulsive disorder, hyperthyroidism, or DM. Should be used during pregnancy only if the potential benefit justifies the potential risk to the fetus. Use of inhaler during labor should be restricted to those patients in whom the benefits clearly outweigh the risk. Discontinue nursing during treatment or discontinue the drug, taking into account the importance of drug to the mother.

Not to be concomitantly used w/ other short-acting sympathomimetic aerosol bronchodilators. Caution when concomitantly used w/ adrenergic drugs (administered by any route); MAOIs or TCAs, β-blockers, diuretics, digoxin.
