Action
The Quinton Nasal Hygiene Sprays are nasal sprays containing polyelectrolyte cold-microfiltered seawater solutions. The Daily Nasal Hygiene and Pediatric Nasal Sprays contain isotonic seawater solution (0.09%) while the Action Plus Nasal Hygiene Spray contains hypertonic seawater solution (2.1%). This range of products has been designed specifically to prevent, cope with, and treat common colds, cases of flu, nasal congestion, allergic rhinitis, rhinosinusitis, rhinopharyngitis, dry sinuses, and for use in pre- and post-operative nasal surgery. The Action Plus Nasal Hygiene Spray is specially recommended for use in more serious medical conditions, presenting with worse symptoms that affect the upper respiratory tract.
To produce, Quinton harvests its raw seawater in particular plankton blooms in the middle of the North Atlantic Ocean following the original protocol of founder, Rene Quinton, and their safety and effectiveness could possibly be ascribed to this source of maximum biological activity. Once harvested and taken to the laboratory in a refrigerated truck, the seawater undergoes double cold-microfiltration and different tests: microbiological, physicochemical, radioactivity, endotoxins, heavy metals, and microplastics. These tests guarantee the absence of any possible pollutants and unwanted compounds in Quinton seawater. Double cold-microfiltration prevents cellular oxidation and dehydration in contrast to other procedures such as sterilization at temperatures over 40°C which, apart from modifying the seawater composition and changing its organic matter content, can produce hydroxyl radicals.
The product is stored using the most suitable materials to preserve its properties. To this end, excessive use of plastic or rubber is avoided because, being a corrosive substance, seawater can cause ion exchange to happen when in permanent contact with these packaging materials. This would compromise the seawater's effectiveness and natural properties.
The Quinton nasal sprays are therefore Quinton seawater sprays that have been meticulously prepared to care for the respiratory tract, even in altered health conditions. Some of the symptoms associated with mild respiratory conditions that can be treated using the sprays are rhinorrhea, sneezing, itching, nasal obstruction and congestion.
The use of saline sprays, hypertonic solution or packaged seawater sprays to treat the aforesaid symptoms has been standardized a few years ago. However, it has been observed that the conventional saline solution is potentially harmful to the nasal mucosa. Using seawater, particularly Quinton seawater on the other hand, improves the effectiveness of and tolerance to these nasal sprays. Quinton seawater's special properties are basically due to its content of trace minerals and other minerals whose role in controlling inflammation and regulating the ciliary beat frequency have already been discussed in medical literature.
Nasal irrigation using sprays is justified for mucociliary clearance because it helps keep the nasal cavity moist and it removes any material embedded in the mucosa, which also favors the elimination of bacteria and other microorganisms that are potentially pathogenic, ultimately increasing the likelihood of a favorable outcome. In case of rhinitis, when the defense mechanism of the mucociliary escalator is altered, Quinton Daily Nasal Hygiene or Quinton Action Plus Nasal Hygiene in adults and Quinton Pediatric Nasal Spray in babies help flush out and clean the nasal cavity. Furthermore, given its osmotically active chemical component, the hypertonic Quinton Action Plus Nasal Hygiene can help reduce the oedema by decreasing the inflammation and flushing out the accumulated secretion. In cases of chronic nasal congestion, the isotonic Quinton Daily Nasal Hygiene and Quinton Pediatric Nasal sprays can be used more frequently than the hypertonic sprays, without any type of contraindication.
Finally, it is important to remember that the main problem of the conventional seawater sprays, which have not been prepared according to the Advanced Quinton Protocol, is their use of high temperatures to sterilize their raw seawater. These heat-sterilization methods produce hydroxyl radicals which can result, in some cases, in the occurrence of nasal bleeding after their use. This unfortunate phenomenon will not happen when using Quinton nasal sprays.
