Do not inj intravascularly. Does not protect against invasive diseases caused by serotypes other than HIB, nor against meningitis of other origins. Fainting can occur following or even before an inj. Child who has blood disorders eg, thrombocytopenia or clotting disorders; any medical problems or allergies; experienced oedematous reactions of the lower limbs following inj of a vaccine containing HIB valence; weakened immune defenses. Child who has had fever ≥40°C w/in 48 hr, w/o any other identifiable cause; collapse or state suggesting a state of shock w/ episode of hypotonia-hyporesponsiveness w/in 48 hr of vaccination; persistent, inconsolable crying for ≥3 hr, occurring w/in 48 hr after vaccination; convulsions w/ or w/o fever, occurring w/in 3 days after vaccination; Guillain-Barré syndrome or brachial plexus neuropathy after inj of vaccine containing tetanus toxoid. Monitor temp w/in 48 hr of vaccination & give regular treatment to reduce fever in child who has ever had seizures w/ fever not related to a previous vaccine inj. +ve result for HIB infection may be observed in a urine test 1-2 wk after vaccination. Contains phenylalanine which may be dangerous for people w/ phenylketonuria. Concomitant use w/ corticosteroids, cytotoxic medicines, RT or other treatments that may weaken the immune system.
