Prevention of pregnancy.

Deep IM inj 1 inj at the interval of 30 days. Administer on the 1st day of menstrual cycle (1st day of bleeding). Give the following inj regardless of the cycle pattern at intervals of 30+/-3 days (ie, min of 27 days, max of 33 days).

Hypersensitivity. Breast malignancy, undiagnosed vag bleeding, moderate to severe HTN, present or history of arterial thrombosis (eg, MI, CVA). Severe liver disease, cholestatic jaundice or hepatitis. Pregnancy or suspected pregnancy.

Do not give further inj due to increased risk of thrombosis in case of occurrence for the 1st time of migrainous headaches or more frequent occurrence of unusually severe headaches, sudden perceptual disorders (eg, disturbances of vision or hearing), signs of thrombophlebitis or thromboembolic symptoms, chest pain & tightness, impending operations (6 wk beforehand), immobilization (for instance after accidents). Discontinue treatment if onset of jaundice, hepatitis, itching over the whole body, increase in the frequency of epileptic seizures, significant rise in BP, or pregnancy occurs. May influence conditions eg, epilepsy, migraine, asthma, & cardiac or renal dysfunction due to fluid retention. General medical & gynecological exam should be carried out before starting treatment. Clinical check-ups are recommended every 6 mth during use. Pregnancy must be excluded out.

Headaches, asthenia, gastric upset, wt changes, nervousness, changes in libido, menstrual irregularities, feeling of tension in breasts, irregular bleeding.

Irregular cycles & reduced reliability of OCs may occur w/anti-convulsants, barbiturates, antibiotics, (eg, tetracyclines, ampicillin, rifampicin). Oral antidiabetics or insulin.

Depot Contraceptives

G03AA05 - norethisterone and ethinylestradiol ; Belongs to the class of progestogens and estrogens in fixed combinations. Used as systemic contraceptives.
