Treatment & prophylaxis of infections in which yeast Malassezia (previously called Pityrosporum) is involved eg, seborrheic dermatitis & pityriasis capitis (dandruff). Pityriasis versicolor.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Usually, a palmful or 1 sachet suffices for 1 wash. Wash infected areas of skin or scalp & leave on for 3-5 min before rinsing. Treatment: Pityriasis versicolor Once daily for 1-3 days. Seborrheic dermatitis & pityriasis capitis Twice wkly for 2-4 wk. Prophylaxis: Seborrheic dermatitis & pityriasis capitis Once every 1 or 2 wk.

Special Precautions

Gradually w/draw steroid therapy over a period of 2-3 wk in patients who have been on prolonged treatment w/ topical steroids to prevent any potential rebound effect. Avoid contact w/ eyes. Childn & infant <12 yr.

Eye irritation, increased lacrimation; application site erythema, irritation, hypersensitivity, pruritus, pustules & reaction; hypersensitivity; folliculitis; dysgeusia; acne, alopecia, contact dermatitis, dry skin, abnormal hair texture, rash, skin burning sensation, disorder & exfoliation.
