Indications/Uses

Balanced supply of protein elements in acute & chronic renal insufficiency as well as during peritoneal & hemodialysis treatment.

Dosage/Direction for Use

IV infusion Patient weighing 70 kg Acute & chronic renal insufficiency w/o dialysis Up to 0.5 g amino acid/kg (500 mL) daily, under dialysis Up to 1 g amino acid/kg (1,000 mL) daily. Max dose: Up to 1.5 g amino acid/kg (1,500 mL) daily. Infusion rate: Not to exceed 20 drop/min. Max duration: Up to 2 wk for acute renal insufficiency, & until sufficient oral supply of protein can be given for chronic renal insufficiency w/o dialysis as well as acute & chronic renal insufficiency under hemodialysis.

Contraindications

Impaired amino acid metabolism, advanced functional liver impairment, severe cardiac insufficiency, hyperhydration, hypokalemia, hyponatremia.

Special Precautions

May lead to increased production of gastric acid & stress ulcer. Observe blood electrolyte level. Supply sufficient K if necessary. Regularly monitor water-electrolyte metabolism, acid-base status & serum urea. Treat possibly existing reduction of renal function by supplying sufficient amounts of water & electrolytes. Pregnancy & lactation.
