Contents
Paracetamol 500 mg, phenylephrine HCl 25 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 2 mg
Indications/Uses
Reduction of fever or relief of pain in common upper resp infection; runny nose, nasal congestion, allergic rhinitis & sinusitis.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult 1 tab every 4 hr. Childn 6-12 yr ½ tab every 4 hr.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Patient who has high BP or severe heart disease; anemia, kidney or liver disease. Pregnancy or lactation.
Special Precautions
W/draw medication if drowsiness, restlessness or nervousness occurs. Heart, BP & diabetes patients. Patients w/ glaucoma, thyroid problems, enlarged prostate, bladder problems or difficulty urinating. Do not drive or operate machinery. Liver or kidney disease.
Adverse Reactions
Paracetamol: Changes in number of WBC & platelets eg, agranulocytosis, leukopenia, neutropenia, pancytopenia, thrombocytopenia; allergic reactions; minor stomach & intestinal disturbances; rare cases of serious skin reactions (ie, SJS, TEN & acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis). Phenylephrine HCl: Anxiety; dizziness, restlessness; arrhythmia, palpitation; pallor; resp distress; weakness. Chlorphenamine maleate: Sleepiness & drowsiness; headache; blurred vision, visual disturbance; tinnitus; chest tightness; decreased BP; constipation, diarrhea, GI discomfort, nausea, vomiting; muscle weakness; difficulty urinating; dryness of mouth, nose & throat; irritability. Phenylephrine HCl & chlorphenamine maleate: Insomnia/sleeplessness, nervousness; tremor; increased BP.
Drug Interactions
Possible increased toxicity w/ epinephrine & halothane. May result in hypertensive crisis w/ selegiline, moclobemide & amitriptyline, imipramine. Effect of phenylephrine may be decreased w/ prior administration of phenothiazine, phentolamine. May increase BP w/ propranolol & methyldopa. May potentiate drowsiness w/ alprazolam, diazepam & zolpidem. Paracetamol: May increase INR w/ warfarin. Increased anticoagulation effect of warfarin. Susceptibility to harmful effects to the liver may be increased w/ phenobarb, phenytoin. Absorption may be accelerated w/ metoclopramide or domperidone & reduced by cholestyramine.
