In an investigation conducted by the Japan Poison Information Center between 2001 to 2010 in 13 identified patients who have intentionally overdosed on Eperisone, main symptoms included the following: nausea, conscious disturbance, convulsion, and hypotension. While in a retrospective study conducted in 4 patients admitted in Tokai University Hospital (Japan) between January 2010 and December 2012 and who were acutely overdosed with Eperisone (range of intake 550-600mg), it was determined that there were positive correlations between serum Eperisone concentration and QTc interval prolongation in overdosed patients. Thus, it was recommended in the study that physicians closely observe patients for possible cardiotoxicity thru ECG monitoring and serial determination of QTc intervals. There is no specific antidote for Eperisone overdosage. Appropriate symptomatic therapy should be provided as appropriate.
