Indications/Uses

Inflammatory, pruritic manifestations of psoriasis (excluding widespread plaque psoriasis) & atopic dermatitis in adults & childn 2-18 yr.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Apply a thin film to affected areas of skin once daily. Duration: No >5 days in childn & or on face.

Overdosage

Contraindications

Hypersensitivity to mometasone furoate or other corticosteroids. Facial rosacea, acne vulgaris, skin atrophy, perioral dermatitis, perianal & genital pruritus, napkin eruptions, bacterial (eg, impetigo, pyodermas), viral (eg, herpes simplex & zoster, chickenpox, verrucae vulgaris, condylomata acuminata, molluscum contagiosum), parasitical & fungal (eg, candida or dermatophyte) infections, varicella, Tb, syphilis, or post-vaccine reactions. Not to be used on wounds or ulcerated skin.

Special Precautions

W/draw treatment if irritation or sensitization develops. Discontinue use if an infection develops & favourable response does not occur after instituting appropriate antifungal or antibacterial agent. Not for ophth use including the eyelids. Avoid long-term continuous therapy; sudden discontinuation of treatment. Systemic absorption can produce reversible hypothalamic-pituitary-adrenal axis suppression (w/ potential for glucocorticoid insufficiency after w/drawal) & manifestations of Cushing's syndrome, hyperglycemia & glucosuria. Similar side effects following use of systemic corticosteroids may also occur. May be hazardous in psoriasis. Can change appearance of some lesions & make establishment of adequate diagnosis difficult & delay healing. Visual disturbance. Pregnancy & lactation. Not recommended in childn <2 yr.
