Medsone

Each 5 mL contains: Prednisolone (as sodium phosphate) 20 mg.

Pharmacology: Pharmacokinetics: Prednisolone decreases inflammatory by inhibition of migration of polymorph nuclear leukocytes and reversal of increased capillary permeability. It suppresses the immune system by reducing the activity and volume of the lymphatic system.

Suppression of inflammatory and allergic disorders, inflammatory bowel disease, asthma, immunosuppression and rheumatic disease.

Syrup: Adults: 10-20 mg daily preferably taken in the morning after breakfast, or as prescribed by the physician.
Children: 1-2 mg/kg/body weight given once or in divided doses. Or as prescribed by the physician.

Cardiovascular: hypertrophic cardiomyopathy in premature infants.
Dermatologic: facial erythema, increased sweating, impaired wound healing, urticaria, edema.
Endocrine: decreased carbohydrate tolerance, development of cushingoid state, hirsutism, increased requirements for insulin in diabetic patients, menstrual irregularities, suppression of growth in children.
Fluid and Electrolyte Disturbances: congestive heart failure in susceptible patients, hypertension, hypokalemic alkalosis.
Gastrointestinal: abdominal distention, elevation in serum liver enzyme levels (usually reversible upon discontinuation), pancreatitis, peptic ulcer, ulcerative esophagitis.
Musculoskeletal: muscle weakness, osteoporosis, tendon rupture, vertebral compression fractures.
Neurological: convulsions, headache, increased intracranial pressure, psychic disorders, vertigo.
Ophthalmic: exophthalmos, glaucoma, increased intraocular pressure.
Other: increased appetite, malaise, nausea, weight gain.

Store at temperatures not exceeding 30°C.
