Vit A 3,000 IU, vit B1 10 mg, vit B2 5 mg, vit B3 20 mg, vit B6 5 mg, vit B12 50 mcg, vit C 80 mg, vit D3 200 IU, vit E 16 IU, Ca pantothenate 10 mg, folic acid 5,000 IU, Fe fumarate (equiv to elemental Fe 102.3 mg) 310 mg, Mn sulfate 1 mg, Mg sulfate 5 mg, K iodide 100 mcg, Cu sulfate 200 mcg, Ca lactate 250 mg, Zn sulfate 10 mg
Indications/Uses
Fe deficiency anemia associated w/ nutritional deficiencies, period of rapid adolescent growth, pregnancy & lactation, excessive menstrual flow, traumatic or endogenous hemorrhages, convalescence following surgery & old age & other conditions leading to poor Fe absorption. Prevention of folate deficiency in pregnant women & neural tube defects including spina bifida & anencephaly. Prophylaxis & treatment of folic acid deficiency.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Preferably taken between meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.
Contraindications
Vit B12 deficiency, undiagnosed megaloblastic anemia.
Special Precautions
Megaloblastic anemia secondary to vit B12 deficiency. Pernicious anemia.
Adverse Reactions
Rarely, GI disturbances & hypersensitivity reaction. Black stool.
Drug Interactions
May partially reverse the effect by phenobarb, diphenylhydantoin & primidone. Delayed absorption w/ tetracycline antibiotics.
