Indications/Uses

Prevention of atherosclerotic events in peripheral arterial disease; w/in 35 days of MI; w/in 6 mth of ischemic stroke; in acute coronary syndrome w/o ST-segmental elevation.

Dosage/Direction for Use

75 mg once daily.

Administration

May be taken with or without food.

Special Precautions

Do not administer in patients w/ hematopoietic disorders eg, neutropenia or thrombocytopenia, haemorrhagic diathesis or other haemorrhagic disorders associated w/ prolonged bleeding time or conditions w/ increased risk of bleeding eg, GI ulcers, acute cerebral hemorrhage or several liver dysfunctions. Perform full blood counts w/in 2 wk of discontinuation. Discontinuation 10-14 days before elective surgery.

Adverse Reactions

GI disturbances, skin rashes; blood dyscrasias eg, neutropenia & thrombocytopenic purpura & haemorrhagic disorders; hepatitis & cholestatic jaundice.

Drug Interactions

Increased risk of bleeding w/ anticoagulants & antiplatelets. May inhibit drug metabolism in the liver. Reduced clearance w/ cimetidine therapy. Antagonized effects on bleeding time w/ corticosteroids.
