Indications/Uses
Empagliflozin + Metformin HCl (JARDIANCE DUO) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus when treatment with both empagliflozin and metformin is appropriate (see Pharmacology: Clinical Trials under Actions and Dosage & Administration).
Paediatric population: Empagliflozin + Metformin HCl (JARDIANCE DUO) is indicated as an adjunct to diet and exercise to improve glycaemic control in children aged 10 years and above with type 2 diabetes mellitus.
When treatment with both empagliflozin and metformin is appropriate; inadequately controlled with metformin alone or in combination with insulin (see Pharmacology: Clinical Trials under Actions); already treated with empagliflozin and metformin co-administered as separate tablets.
Empagliflozin is indicated in adults with type 2 diabetes mellitus and established cardiovascular disease to reduce the risk of cardiovascular death (see Pharmacology: Clinical Trials under Actions).
To prevent cardiovascular deaths, empagliflozin should be used in conjunction with other measures to reduce cardiovascular risk in line with current standard of care.
