Miconazole.
Description
This product is smooth, soft, white color translucent gel. Sweet taste with orange flavour. Free from undispersed particles and extraneous matter.
Each gram of gel contains: Miconazole BP 20 mg.
Action
This medicine contains Miconazole used for treating infections caused by fungi including yeast.
Indications/Uses
Iconagel is used for treatment of Candidiasis of the oropharyngeal cavity in adult and pediatric patients 4 months and older.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adults and children 2 years of age and older: Half (1/2) a spoonful four times a day.
Infants (6-24 months): One quarter (1/4) of a spoonful four times a day.
Or as directed by the physician.
Continue treatment for at least a week after symptoms have disappeared. This is to ensure that treatment is complete.
Missed dose: If the patient misses one dose, do so as soon as remembered then go back to using it normally.
Do not double dose to make up on the missed dose.
Overdosage
Signs and Symptoms of Overdose: Patient may experience nausea, vomiting and diarrhea. If the patient does, he/she may need to replace the water and minerals which are lost during vomiting and diarrhea.
When the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage: If the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage, consult a physician or go to nearest emergency unit or contact a Poison Control Center right away.
Contraindications
Patients with hypersensitivity to Miconazole, liver disease, infants below 6 months of age and if taking any of the following medicines because it may affect the way these medicines will work: Cisapride; Simvastatin or Lovastatin; Midazolam or Triazolam; Pimozide; Quinidine.
Special Precautions
Do not take more than the recommended dose unless prescribed by the physician.
Consult a doctor if any undesirable effects occur.
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Tell the doctor if pregnant or breastfeeding. The doctor will advise whether the patient should use Iconagel.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, loss of appetite, feeling unwell and chills. Immediately tell the doctor if any of the following symptoms have been experienced: yellowing of the skin and eyes, fever, dark coloured urine, severe blisters and bleeding in the lips, eyes, mouth, nose and genitals, skin rash, reddening, blisters or itching, swelling of the face, lips and other parts of the body, shortness of breath or wheezing.
Drug Interactions
Do not use while taking oral anticoagulants (drugs used to thin the blood such as warfarin).
Storage
Store at room temperatures below 30°C.
