Indications/Uses

Tab Symptomatic relief of allergy eg, hay fever & urticaria. Oral soln/oral drops Symptomatic relief of allergic conditions including rhinitis & chronic urticaria.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Tab Adult & childn >7 yr 1 tab daily or ½ tab bid, 2-6 yr ½ tab daily or ¼ tab bid. Oral soln Adult & childn ≥7 yr 10 mL once daily or 5 mL bid, 2-6 yr 5 mL once daily or 2.5 mL bid. Oral drops Childn 2-5 yr 5 mg (2 mL) once daily or 2.5 mg (1 mL) bid every 12 hr, 12 mth-<2 yr 2.5 mg (1 mL) once daily or bid every 12 hr. Infant 6-<12 mth 2.5 mg (1 mL) once daily.

Overdosage

Hypersensitivity. Patients w/ cardiac disease.

Adverse Reactions

Mild or transient drowsiness, dry mouth, thickened resp tract secretions, blurred vision, urinary difficulty or retention, constipation & increased gastric reflux. Allergic reaction including severe reactions & angioedema. GI effects including nausea, vomiting, diarrhea or epigastric pain.

Drug Interactions

Oral soln: Hydroxyzine or any piperazine derivatives. Oral drops: May enhance the sedative effects of CNS depressants including alcohol, barbiturates, hypnotics, opioid analgesics, anxiolytic sedatives, & antipsychotics.
