Hypersensitivity: Known hypersensitivity to vildagliptin or metformin hydrochloride or to any of the excipients (see Excipients/Inactive Ingredients under Description).
Patients with renal impairment: Use is contraindicated in patients with severe renal impairment (GFR of <30 mL/min). (See Dosage & Administration and Precautions).
Congestive heart failure: Use is contraindicated in patients with congestive heart failure requiring pharmacological treatment (see Precautions).
Metabolic acidosis: Use is contraindicated in patients with acute or chronic metabolic acidosis, including lactic acidosis or diabetic ketoacidosis, with or without coma. Diabetic ketoacidosis should be treated with insulin.
