Indications/Uses
Food for special medical purposes for the dietary management of infants with/or at risk of malnutrition or faltering growth. Fortini Infant is an energy dense feed for infants from birth and young children up to 18 months of age (or 9 kg), particularly suitable for those with increased energy needs and fluid restriction.
Protein sources from cow's milk.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Suggested intake: The quantity of feed and the dilution should be determined by a clinician or dietician only, and is dependent on age, bodyweight and medical condition of the patient.
Preparation: Wash hands thoroughly and clean the preparation area. Sterilize container and teats.
Boil fresh water for 5 minutes. Cool for at least 30 minutes so that it feels warm to the wrist.
Pour the required amount of water into a sterilized container.
Fill the scoop provided with powder and level off with a clean, dry knife. Do not press the powder into the scoop. Only use the scoop provided.
Add the prescribed number of scoops of powder to the water. Replace the cap on the container and shake until the powder dissolves.
Before feeding ensure that the formula is at the correct temperature by placing a few drops on the wrist. Use immediately after reconstitution.
Formula remaining in the container after two hour of feeding should be discarded. Formula must not be rewarmed during feeding.
Warnings
There is no substitute for breastmilk.
Special Precautions
Allergy advice: milk, fish.
Breastmilk is the best for babies up to 2 years of age and beyond.
The use of infant formula/milk supplements must only be upon the advice of a health care professional. The unnecessary and improper use of this product may be dangerous to the child's health.
For enteral use only. Not for parenteral use. Must be used under medical supervision after full consideration of all the feeding options, including breastfeeding. Suitable as a sole source of nutrition for infants from birth and young children up to 18 months of age (or 9 kg).
Caution For Usage
There is likelihood that pathogenic microorganisms will be in this product when it is prepared and used inappropriately.
Instruction of use:
One level scoop provides 5 g of powder. To prepare 100 mL of feed, put 90 mL of cooled, boiled water in a bottle. Gradually add 4 levelled scoops of powder. To prepare 200 mL of feed, put 180 mL of cooled boiled water in a bottle then add 8 levelled scoops of powder.
Note: Formula is not sterile. The formula should be prepared immediately prior to feeding. Do not boil formula and do not use a microwave oven to heat.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place (not a refrigerator). Always replace container lid after use. Once opened, use within 1 month.
