Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Duration: Until cough clears up or for period not exceeding 7 days. Adult & childn >12 yr 10 mL up to tid at intervals of at least 6 hr. Childn >2 yr 1 mg/kg tid for total daily dose of 3 mg/kg at intervals of at least 6 hr, 20-30 kg 5 mL up to tid, 10-20 kg 3 mL up to tid.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Excessive mucus discharge & limited mucociliary function. Severe liver impairment.
Special Precautions
Caution in diabetics; patients w/ serious renal insufficiency. Possible drowsiness which may affect ability to drive vehicles & operate machines. Safety & efficacy in childn <24 mth have not yet been established. Should not be used in pregnant women or women suspected of pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Nausea, vomiting, heartburn, abdominal discomfort, diarrhea; exhaustion, faintness, somnolence, clouding of consciousness, numbness, dizziness, headache; palpitations; hypersensitivity reactions.
Drug Interactions
Caution in simultaneous administration of sedative drugs.
