Per 5 mL syr Phenylephrine HCl 5 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 1 mg. Per mL drops Phenylephrine HCl 2.5 mg, chlorphenamine maleate 0.5 mg

Indications/Uses

Relief of clogged & runny nose, itchy, watery eyes & sneezing associated w/ common cold, upper airway cough syndrome (postnasal drip syndrome), allergic rhinitis & other minor resp tract infections. Helps decongest sinus openings & passages.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Syr Adult & childn ≥12 yr 10 mL every 6 hr. Childn 7-12 yr 5 mL every 6 hr, 2-6 yr 2.5 mL every 6 hr. Drops Childn 1-2 yr 1 mL every 6 hr, 7-12 mth 0.75 mL every 6 hr, 4-6 mth 0.5 mL every 6 hr, 1-3 mth 0.25 mL every 6 hr.

Overdosage

Adverse Reactions

Phenylephrine HCl: Tremors, restlessness, anxiety, insomnia/sleeplessness, nervousness, dizziness, increased BP, palpitation, arrhythmia, weakness, resp distress & pallor. Chlorphenamine maleate: Sleepiness & drowsiness.

Drug Interactions

Possibility for increased toxicity w/ sympathomimetic agents (eg, epinephrine) & general anesth (eg, halothane). May result in hypertensive crisis w/ amitriptyline, imipramine, sertraline, moclobemide. Phenylephrine HCl: May decrease effect w/ phenothiazines, phentolamine, propranolol.
