Per cap Ascorbic acid (equiv to Na ascorbate 562.4 mg) 500 mg, Zn sulfate monohydrate (equiv to elemental Zn 10 mg) 27.5 mg. Per chewable tab Ascorbic acid (as Na ascorbate 225 mg) 200 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg, Zn sulfate monohydrate (equiv to elemental Zn 5 mg) 13.75 mg. Per 5 mL syr Ascorbic acid (as Na ascorbate 56.24 mg) 50 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg, Zn sulfate monohydrate (equiv to elemental Zn 10 mg) 27.5 mg. Per mL oral drops Ascorbic acid (as Na ascorbate 56.24 mg) 50 mg, ascorbic acid 50 mg, Zn sulfate monohydrate (equiv to elemental Zn 10 mg) 27.5 mg

Dosage/Direction for Use

Cap Adult 1 cap daily. Chewable tab Adult & childn >15 yr 2 tab daily. Childn 4-15 yr ½-1 tab. Syr Childn 7-12 yr 5-10 mL, 2-6 yr 2.5-5 mL, <2 yr 2.5 mL. Oral drops Childn 3-12 mth 0.6 mL, <3mth 0.3 mL.

Overdosage

View Dayzinc overdosage for action to be taken in the event of an overdose.

Administration

Should be taken on an empty stomach: Best taken at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals. May be taken w/ meals to reduce GI discomfort.

Special Precautions

Hyperoxaluria.

Drug Interactions

Ascorbic acid: May induce tissue desaturation w/ aspirin, nicotine, appetite suppressant, Fe, phenytoin, anticonvulsant drugs, estrogen-containing OCs & tetracycline. May decrease plasma conc of fluphenazine. Reduced absorption & decrease urinary excretion w/ aspirin. May increase urinary Al elimination w/ Al-containing antacids. Lower serum levels w/ OCs. Zn sulfate monohydrate: May inhibit absorption of Cu. May reduce absorption of tetracyclines & quinolones (eg, ciprofloxacin, levofloxacin, moxifloxacin, norfloxacin & ofloxacin). Absorption may be reduced by Ca salts, oral Fe, penicillamine & trientine.
