Fluticasone propionate
Indications/Uses
Symptomatic treatment & prophylaxis of seasonal allergic rhinitis & perennial rhinitis including hay fever.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & childn >12 yr 2 sprays into each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning, or in some cases 2 sprays into each nostril bid. Max daily dose: Not to exceed 4 sprays into each nostril. Childn 4-11 yr 1 spray in each nostril once daily, preferably in the morning, or in some cases 1 spray in each nostril bid. Max daily dose: Not to exceed 2 sprays in each nostril.
Contraindications
Special Precautions
Report of systemic effects especially in high doses & long-term use. Glaucoma & increased IOP. Patients who discontinue systemic steroid therapy & initiate intranasal therapy especially if there is reason to think that adrenal function is impaired. Avoid concomitant use w/ ritonavir. Women w/ childbearing potential. Insufficient data on safety in pregnancy. Lactation. Growth retardation in childn. Regularly monitor height in childn during long-term therapy.
Adverse Reactions
Epistaxis. Headache, bad taste in mouth, bad odour; nasal dryness/irritation, dry throat, throat irritation.
Drug Interactions
Increased plasma conc w/ ritonavir. Increased systemic exposure w/ ketoconazole.
