Known hypersensitivity to valsartan, hydrochlorothiazide, other sulphonamide derived medicinal products or to any of the excipients.
Pregnancy (see USE IN PREGNANCY & LACTATION).
Because of hydrochlorothiazide, use is contraindicated in patients with anuria.
Concomitant use of angiotensin receptor antagonists (ARBs)-including valsartan- or of angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitors (ACEIs) with aliskiren in patients with Type 2 diabetes (see Dual RAS blockade under INTERACTIONS).
