Calcium monohydrogen phosphate, calcium ascorbate
Calcium + Ascorbic Acid (Calcebone) 130 mg/124 mg Film-Coated Tablet is a yellow, oval, biconvex, film-coated tablet, bisected on one side, plain on the other.
Each film-coated tablet contains: Calcium 130 mg, Ascorbic Acid 124 mg (equiv. to 500 mg Calcium Monohydrogen Phosphate and 150 mg Calcium Ascorbate).
Calcium + Ascorbic Acid (Calcebone) is used as calcium supplement during pregnancy, lactation, and skeletal disorders.
Take 1-2 tablets, 1-3 times daily or as prescribed by the physician.
Missed dose: Take the missed dose as soon as remembered. Skip the missed dose if it is almost time for the next scheduled dose. Do not take extra medicine to make up the missed dose.
Hypercalcemia may occur when the patient takes excessive amounts of Calcium.
When the patient has taken more than the recommended dosage: The patient should consult a doctor immediately.
Patient should not take this product if he/she has hypercalcemia, hyperphosphatemia, hypoparathyroidism, and if the patient is allergic to any component of the product.
For renal impairment, the patient should consult a physician before taking calcium supplementation. Calcium supplementation should be generally avoided by patients with calcium renal stones or a history of kidney stones.
Dose spacing of at least 3 hours should be done if this product is to be used with fluoroquinolones and tetracyclines.
The plasma calcium concentrations should be monitored when this product is used with Vitamin D and thiazide diuretics due to increased risk of hypercalcemia.
Consult a doctor: Patient should consult a doctor if he/she is experiencing any undesirable side effect.
Oral calcium salts can cause gastrointestinal disturbances or constipation. Excess amounts may lead to hypercalcemia.
Vitamin D increases calcium gastrointestinal absorption.
Thiazide diuretics decrease calcium urinary excretion.
Fluoroquinolones and tetracycline can chelate with supplemental calcium resulting to reduced intestinal absorption.
Calcium can decrease the absorption of iron from ferrous sulfate.
Calcium can reduce the efficacy of levothyroxine.
Calcium decreases estramustine absorption.
Patient should store this medicine at temperatures not exceeding 25°C.
