Indications/Uses

Mild to moderate HTN.

Dosage/Direction for Use

HTN 250 mg bid-tid for 2 days, adjust by small increments or decrements not more frequently than every 2 days according to the response of the patient. Usual maintenance: 0.5-2 g daily. Elderly Initially 125 mg bid, may be increased gradually. Max: 2 g daily.

Overdosage

Special Precautions

Drug Interactions

Potentiated hypotensive effects w/ diuretics, other antihypertensives & drugs w/ hypotensive effects. Paradoxical antagonism of the hypotensive effects w/ TCAs, antipsychotics & β-blockers. Antagonized hypotensive effects w/ sympathomimetics. May inhibit metabolism w/ entacapone. MAOIs; general anesth.
