Indications/Uses
Patients w/ bronchial asthma who require maintenance treatment w/ glucocorticosteroids for control of the underlying airway inflammation.

Dosage/Direction for Use
Administration can be once or twice daily. Once daily administration can be used for 250-1,000 mcg daily doses. Recommended initial dose: Adult/elderly 1,000 mcg-2,000 mcg total daily dose. Childn ≥12 yr Adult dose, 6 mth-12 yr 250 mcg-500 mcg total daily dose. Once daily dosing may be considered both in adult & ped who require a maintenance dose of 250 mcg-1,000 mcg daily. Once daily administration can be initiated both in non-corticosteroid treated patients & in patients well-controlled by inhaled glucocorticosteroids. Dose can be administered either in the morning or evening. Increase dose & divide over the day as necessary if deterioration of asthma occurs.

Contraindications
History of hypersensitivity.

Special Precautions
Rinse mouth w/ water after inhaling to minimize risk of oropharyngeal candida infection. Not intended for rapid relief of acute episodes of asthma where an inhaled short-acting bronchodilator is required. Long-term local & systemic effects in man are not completely known. Patients w/ severely compromised liver function. Caution in pregnancy. Consider administration to breast-feeding women only if expected benefit to the mother is greater than any possible risk to the child. Closely monitor growth of childn on treatment & weigh the benefit of therapy & asthma control against possibility of growth suppression.

Adverse Reactions
Mild irritation in the throat; candida infection in the oropharynx; hoarseness; coughing.
