Fewer major bleeds with prasugrel as default antiplatelet after PCI
When prasugrel is the default antiplatelet for patients with acute coronary syndromes (ACS) undergoing PCI*, fewer major bleeds occur than when ticagrelor is the default, according to the SWITCH-SWEDEHEART study presented at ESC 2026. This benefit is not accompanied by increased ischaemic events.

Early PCSK9 inhibition post-MI lowers LDL-C: Does it influence clinical outcomes?
Initiating the PCSK9* inhibitor evolocumab in the cath lab prior to PCI** in patients with acute myocardial infarction (MI) dramatically lowers LDL-C compared with standard care in the phase IV AMUNDSEN trial presented at ESC 2026.

Aficamten retains upper hand over metoprolol for oHCM in subanalysis
Results from a subanalysis of the MAPLE-HCM* trial presented at ESC 2026 continue to support the superiority of aficamten over metoprolol in patients with symptomatic obstructive hypertrophic cardiomyopathy (oHCM) irrespective of beta-blocker (BB) use at screening and prior standard-of-care (SoC) status.

SHASTA trials boost plozasiran potential in severe hypertriglyceridaemia
In the SHASTA-3 and SHASTA-4 trials, quarterly administration of plozasiran reduced triglyceride (TG) levels and acute pancreatitis (AP) events in individuals with severe hypertriglyceridaemia (sHTG; TG ≥500 mg/dL).
