Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply 0.1 mL of 2 tuberculin unit intradermally in middle 3rd of forearm.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Severe local reaction to tuberculin products.
Special Precautions
Avoid SC or IM inj. Anaphylaxis; observe for allergic reactions for up to 20 min after administration. Active TB; lowered sensitivity to tuberculin by other diseases eg, cancer, sarcoidosis. Undernourished patients.
Adverse Reactions
Inj site vesiculation, ulceration or necrosis; mild fever or lymph node swelling; hypersensitivity, anaphylactic reactions; headache, urticaria.
Drug Interactions
Decreased tuberculin reaction w/ live virus vaccines. Suppressed reactivity to tuberculin test w/ immunosuppressive treatment ie, corticosteroids. Positive Mantoux test w/ previous BCG vaccination or earlier infection w/ nontuberculous mycobacterium.
