Contents
Glucosamine HCl 500 mg, chondroitin sulfate Na 440 mg, methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) 400 mg
Indications/Uses
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult Light to moderate OA 1 tab bd for at least 6 wk. Severe OA Initial therapy: 1 tab tds for at least 12 wk. Maintenance therapy: 1 tab bd for 3-4 mth.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to glucosamine, chondroitin or MSM. Allergy to seafood.
Special Precautions
Not a replacement for NSAIDs in cases of intense pain. Not to be given to patients allergic to seafood. May increase insulin resistance. Carefully monitor blood sugar levels in patients w/ type 2 diabetes, overwt & glucose tolerance problems. Severe hepatic or renal insufficiency. Not recommended during pregnancy & lactation. Avoid use during 1st 3 mth of pregnancy. Avoid use in childn.
Adverse Reactions
Peripheral oedema, tachycardia; drowsiness, headache, insomnia; nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, dyspepsia or epigastric pain, constipation, heartburn, anorexia; skin reactions eg, erythema, pruritus.
Drug Interactions
May reduce effectiveness w/ antidiabetic agents eg, acarbose, acetohexamide, chlorpropamide, glipizide, glyburide, metformin, miglitol, pioglitazone, repaglinide, rosiglitazone, glimepiride, tolbutamide, troglitazone. Reduced effectiveness of doxorubicin, etoposide, teniposide. Elevated INR serum values & potentiated anticoagulant effects of warfarin. Not to be used concomitantly w/ chitosan.
