Adjunct to diet & exercise in adults w/ insufficiently controlled type 2 DM as monotherapy when metformin is inappropriate due to intolerance or CIs; in combination w/ other medicinal products for diabetes.
Initially 3 mg once daily for 1 mth, may be increased to maintenance dose: 7 mg once daily for at least 1 mth. Then further increased to 14 mg once daily to improve glycaemic control.

Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Swallow whole, do not chew/crush/split. Refrain from eating, drinking or taking other oral medications for at least 30 min after intake.
Discontinue use if pancreatitis is suspected. Not to be used in patients w/ type 1 DM or for diabetic ketoacidosis. Not recommended in patients w/ CHF NYHA class IV. Increased risk of hypoglycaemia in combination w/ sulfonylurea or insulin. GI effects; history of pancreatitis; diabetic retinopathy; bariatric surgery. Ensure to avoid fluid depletion. May affect ability to drive & use machines. Not recommended in ESRD. Severe renal & hepatic impairment. Women of childbearing potential should use effective contraception. Not to be used during pregnancy & lactation. Childn & adolescents <18 yr. Elderly ≥75 yr.
