Contents
L-menthol, glycol salicylate, DL-α-tocopherol acetate (vitamin E).
Description
Ingredients: L-menthol 4.025% w/w, glycol salicylate 1.050% w/w, DL-α-tocopherol acetate (vitamin E) 0.875% w/w.
Contains medicinal ingredients.
Sticks firmly on the site of pain yet removes easily.
Non-greasy.
Does not stain clothes.
Contains vitamin E.
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: Zinc oxide, Silicon dioxide, Aluminium chlorohydrate, Titanium dioxide, Adhesive plaster, Purified lanolin, Paraffin oil.
Source of purified lanolin: ovine.
Indications/Uses
For the temporary relief of muscular and joint pain e.g. due to simple backache, strains, sprains.
Dosage/Direction for Use
For topical use only.
Maximum duration of use without medical advice: 7 days. One patch should be applied to the affected area 1 to 2 times a day, as required.
Maximum total daily dose: 2 patches, even if there is more than one injured area to be treated.
For use in adults and children aged 12 years and above.
Children under 12 years of age: seek medical advice before use.
Overdosage
Symptoms and Treatment of Overdose: Overdose after incorrect topical application or due to accidental ingestion for products containing salicylates and menthol can be associated with a number of symptoms which can include nausea, vomiting, severe abdominal pain, sweating, tinnitus, vertigo, deafness, dizziness, ataxia, headache, confusion, drowsiness and coma. Relatively large amounts of vitamin E usually cause no harm but occasionally muscle weakness, fatigue, nausea, and diarrhoea occur.
In the event of overdose, supportive care may be required. Further management should be as clinically indicated or as recommended by the national poisons center, where available.
Contraindications
Contraindicated in children below 2 years of age and in patients with known hypersensitivity to glycol salicylate, menthol or tocopherol acetate or any other ingredient of the preparation.
Special Precautions
Use the product with caution in patients with history of allergic reaction to aspirin or other NSAIDs.
The product should be applied only to intact, non-diseased skin and not to skin wounds.
The product should not come into contact with the eyes, nostrils, and other mucous membranes. In case of accidental contact, the eyes or other mucous membranes should be rinsed well with water.
The product should not be used with external heat, such as electric heating pad, as it may result in excessive skin irritations or skin burns.
Some people may experience discomfort, particularly those with sensitive skin, if the product is used after a bath. If the condition does not improve or worsens within 7 days of starting treatment, patients should seek medical advice to exclude an alternative underlying cause of pain. Discontinue the treatment if skin irritation occurs.
Not for use in children under 12 years of age unless directed by a healthcare professional. Use with caution in older children.
Seizures may occur in children with a history of seizures due to the presence of terpene derivatives (menthol).
Use In Pregnancy & Lactation
Do not use during pregnancy or when breastfeeding.
Side Effects
Application site hypersensitivity, application site reaction, skin burning sensation, rash and pruritus.
Drug Interactions
If the patient is taking anticoagulants (eg, warfarin) and antiplatelet medications, consult the doctor before using this product as it may result in an increased risk of bleeding.
Storage
Store below 30°C.
