Brown, hard gelatin capsules.
A medicine acting on the liver. This is a traditional medicine.
Active ingredient: Milk thistle fruit extract.
Composition: 1 capsule contains: 173.0-186.7 mg of dry extract from the fruits of Silybum marianum (36-44:1) equivalent to 75-80.9% of silymarin, calculated as silibinin (extractant: ethyl acetate).
Excipients/Inactive Ingredients: gelatin, microcrystalline cellulose, sodium starch glycolate, maize starch, magnesium stearate, sodium lauryl sulphate, titanium dioxide E 171, ferric oxides E 172.
Traditionally used for liver tonic.
The following instructions apply unless a doctor has given other directions when prescribing Legalon 140 mg Capsule. Adhere to the directions for use, because otherwise, Legalon 140 mg Capsule cannot act properly.
Treatment should be commenced with 1 capsule 3 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to 420 mg of silymarin).
As a maintenance dose, 1 capsule 2 times daily (milk thistle fruit extract equivalent to 280 mg of silymarin) is sufficient.
If the complaints persist for a longer period, the patient should consult a doctor.
The capsules should be taken whole with some liquid before meals.
The doctor will decide how long treatments should be continued.
In the event of an overdose, the mild laxative effect may occur to a greater extent. In this case, the patient should ask a doctor for symptomatic measures.
Use in Children: There have been no adequate investigations on the use of this medicine in children. It should, therefore, not be used in children under 12 years.
No experience is available with regard to the use of Legalon during pregnancy and lactation. Therefore, it should only be used after consultation with a doctor.
A mild laxative effect has occasionally been observed.
Inform a doctor or pharmacist about any side effects which the patient might observe and which are not mentioned in this monograph.
Do not store above 30°C.
