Carbocysteine lysine salt monohydrate
Indications/Uses
Mucolytic, fluidifying agent in acute & chronic resp system diseases.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Powd for oral liqd Adult 1 sachet daily. Syr Adult 30 mL once daily or 15 mL bd. Childn 5-12 yr 5 mL tds, 2-5 yr 1.5 mL qds.
Administration
Should be taken with food: Powd for oral liqd: Dissolve contents in ½ glass of water & drink.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity. Gastric-duodenal ulcer. Childn <2 yr. Syr: Pregnancy & lactation.
Special Precautions
Powd for oral liqd: DM, patients on low-calorie diet. 1st trimester of pregnancy & lactation. Syr: Not to be taken by patients w/ glucose intolerance, glucose-galactose malabsorption or saccharose-isomaltase enzyme insufficiency. May cause urticaria due to methyl parahydroxybenzoate.
Adverse Reactions
Powd for oral liqd: GI symptoms, dizziness. Syr: Skin rash, urticaria, erythema, exanthema, exanthema/erythema bullosum, itching, angioedema, dermatitis; abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea; vertigo; flushing; dyspnoea.
