Indications/Uses
Short-term symptomatic treatment of atopic eczema & intermittent long-term prevention therapy for progression to flares of mild to moderate atopic dermatitis in patients ≥3 mth.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Apply thin layer to affected areas bd. Rub in gently & completely.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to pimecrolimus, other macrolactams.
Special Precautions
Discontinue use in presence of dermatological bacterial or fungal infection & acute infectious mononucleosis. Severe application site reaction. Not to be used in patients w/ congenital or acquired immunodeficiencies or on immunosuppression therapy. Not to be applied to potentially or pre-malignant skin lesions, areas affected by acute cutaneous viral infections. Not recommended in patients w/ Netherton's syndrome or erythrodermic patients. Transplant patients; severely inflamed &/or damaged skin. May cause local skin reactions due to cetyl & stearyl alcohol; allergic reactions & mild local irritation due to benzyl alcohol; skin irritation due to propylene glycol. Monitor patients who develop lymphadenopathy. Not to be applied under occlusion. Avoid contact w/ eyes & mucous membranes. Minimize or avoid exposure to sunlight or UV light. Long-term use. Not to be used during pregnancy. Lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Application site burning. Application site reactions eg, irritation, pruritus & erythema; skin infections eg, folliculitis.
Drug Interactions
Not recommended to apply onto vaccination sites.
