Action
Dermatix Wound Care is a paraben-free hydrocolloid gel indicated for the care of local, dry or moist wounds. It is a medical device that indirectly promotes wound healing by regulating the microenvironment of the wound.
How Does Dermatix Wound Care Work: Dermatix Wound Care is composed of an acidic carbomer stabilised by carnosine, a basic peptide naturally present in the skin. Covering dry wounds such as grazes and surgical wounds with this carbomer has an occlusive effect: it stops the evaporation of moisture and reduces fluid loss through the epidermis. Carnosine buffers the acidic polymers and also acts as an antioxidant. The carbomer absorbs excess fluid from moist, exudative wounds. Dermatix Wound Care cools and softens contact with plasters and/or bandages and is non-adhesive.
Indications/Uses
To be used for acute or chronic wounds such as: Superficial burns, Grazed skin, Bedsores (decubitus), Open leg sores (ulcers), Surgical wounds.
Dermatix Wound Care may also be used on ulcers and wounds as a consequence of diabetic foot conditions. Diabetics with foot problems should consult the doctor before starting to use Dermatix Wound Care.
Dosage/Direction for Use
Instructions For Use: Closed wounds: Clean and disinfect the area to be treated.
Apply Dermatix Wound Care to the wound without touching the wound with the container.
Apply a bandage or plaster if necessary.
Open wounds: Clean and disinfect the wound.
Carefully pat dry.
Apply a thick layer (0.5-0.75 cm) on the wound without touching the wound with the container.
Apply a bandage or plaster.
Replace gel and bandage/plaster at least daily.
Reduce the application of Dermatix Wound Care as a scab appears on the wounds.
Burns: Take care of the burns: first water, then the other steps.
Dermatix Wound Care is not the first measure in the event of burns. Immediately cool the wound down for approximately twenty minutes under tepid running water. This must be done as quickly as possible as the beneficial effect decreases and disappears after 30 minutes. To prevent the danger of hypothermia, the use of cold water, especially when the burn covers a large area, is not recommended. Only use Dermatix Wound Care later, once the severity of the burn has been properly evaluated. Dermatix Wound Care can be used on superficial burns: burns involving the epidermis and/or dermis, usually characterized by swelling, red skin and blisters.
After the wound heals, use Dermatix Ultra for professional scar management.
Special Precautions
Do not use if the patient is hypersensitive or allergic to any of the ingredients. In very rare cases, irritation has been reported.
If irritation or an allergenic reaction occurs, stop treatment immediately.
Do not use Dermatix Wound Care on face, eyes, eyelids or mucosa.
Always consult a physician: for larger, extensive or very deep wounds; small, highly infected wounds; in cases of slow healing or the risk of complications.
In such cases, Dermatix Wound Care can also be helpful, but by no means suffices as the only treatment.
For external use only.
