Indications/Uses

Prevention of lower resp tract disease caused by resp syncytial virus (RSV) in neonates & infants during their 1st RSV season, childn up to 24 mth who remain vulnerable to severe RSV disease through their 2nd RSV season.

Dosage/Direction for Use

Infant <5 kg during 1st RSV season 50 mg IM single dose, ≥5 kg 100 mg IM single dose. Childn who remain vulnerable to severe RSV disease through 2nd RSV season 200 mg single dose given as 2 IM inj administered prior to start of 2nd RSV season. Individual undergoing cardiac surgery w/ cardiopulmonary bypass May administer additional dose as soon as individual is stable after surgery. W/in 90 days after 1st dose: Additional dose of 50-100 mg according to body wt, >90 days after 1st dose: 50 mg single dose regardless of body wt during 1st RSV season or 100 mg during 2nd RSV season to cover remaining RSV season.

Special Precautions

Not to be routinely inj in gluteal muscle due to risk of sciatic nerve damage. Discontinue use immediately if signs & symptoms of anaphylaxis or other clinically significant hypersensitivity reaction occur. Thrombocytopenia or any coagulation disorder. Immunocompromised childn w/ protein-losing conditions. May cause allergic reaction due to polysorbates. Childn 2-18 yr, infants <1 kg, extremely preterm infants <8 wk, infants w/ postmenstrual age <32 wk.
