A yellowish round tablet, debossed with "SP104" on one side.
Each tablet (lozenge) contains: Cetylpyridinium Chloride 2 mg.
Pharmacotherapeutic group: Throat preparation, Antiseptic cetylpyridinium. ATC code: R02AA06.
Pharmacology: Pharmacodynamics: Mechanism of action: Cetylpyridinium Chloride is a quaternary ammonium compound with broad spectrum anti-bacterial activity. It is a cationic surfactant that absorbs readily to oral surfaces. Thus, it is of value in treating superficial infections of the mouth and throat.
The action of sucking the lozenge allows the active ingredient to work in the discomfort area and, also helps lubricate and soothe the painful area. This helps relieve the soreness and discomfort of mouth and throat infections.
Pharmacokinetics: Not applicable.
Temporary relief of throat pain and inflammation.
Route of administration: For oral use only.
Adult: 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily.
Children (above 6 years old): 1/2 tablet 3 to 4 times daily.
Allow Avosil troche to dissolve slowly in the mouth. Suck the Avosil troche in the mouth, and avoid chewing or swallowing.
Taking Avosil before going to bed, the active ingredients can be highly maintained in saliva and give better efficacy.
There is no experience of overdosage but normal procedures of gastric lavage and maintenance of respiration and circulation (using vasopressor drugs if necessary) should apply.
Avosil is contraindicated in those patients with a history of hypersensitivity to cetylpyridinium or any of the other ingredients.
If any form of allergies such as rash appears, immediately discontinue use of Avosil.
Avosil has been shown to stimulate oral cavity and pharynx.
Care to be taken for patient with diabetes; having intolerance to sucrose (sugar) due to the content of sucrose in Avosil; or taking or using other medicines.
Not to be used for children under 6 years old.
User to consult doctor or pharmacist if symptoms persist for more than 3 days.
The effects of Avosil in pregnancy and breast-feeding mothers are unknown.
