≥16 yr, elderly 1st day: 500 mg as a single dose; Day 2-5: 250 mg once daily; Total dose: 1,500 mg. STD due toChlamydia trachomatis or Neisseria gonorrhoeae 1 g as a single dose.
Administration
Should be taken on an empty stomach: Take at least 1 hr before or 2 hr after meals or Al- & Mg-containing antacids.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to azithromycin, erythromycin or other macrolides.
Special Precautions
May change normal flora in the colon & may cause overgrowth of Clostridium. Avoid concomitant use w/ antacids or ergot derivatives. Not for outpatients w/ pneumonia who cannot receive oral treatment. Patients w/ hepatic or severe renal impairment. Pregnancy & lactation.
