Meteor is recommended to administer concomitantly with food to minimize the gastrointestinal irritation.
Concomitant use with NSAIDs or other antirheumatics may result gastrointestinal risk and gastrointestinal bleeding.
The recommended dosage should be reduced if administered concomitantly with antidiabetic drugs and drugs which induce hepatic enzymes such as Barbiturates, Phenytoin, and Rifampicin because it may increase glucocorticoid metabolism.
Interaction between glucocorticoid and anticholinesterase agent eg, Ambenonium, Neostigmine, or Pyridostigmine can produce weakness in patient with myasthenia gravis.
Methylprednisolone may cause reduction response to toxoid and live or inactivated vaccines, patient should not receive smallpox vaccination or other immune vaccines especially in large doses while on corticosteroid therapy.
Potassium-depleting diuretics eg, Thiazides, Furosemide, Ethacrynic acid and other drugs that deplete potassium eg, Ampothericin B, may enhance the Potassium wasting effect of glucocorticoids. Serum Potassium should be closely monitored in patients receiving glucocorticoids and Potassium-depleting drugs.
