Cream: Treatment of herpes simplex infections on the skin, including initial and recurrent genital herpes and labial herpes.
Tablet: Adult: Herpes simplex treatment: 200 mg 5 times a day every 4 hours for 5 days (do not take at night).
Herpes simplex suppression in immune-competent patient: 200 mg 4 times daily every 6 hours.
Prophylaxis of herpes simplex in immune-compromised patient: 200 mg 4 times daily every 6 hours.
Herpes zoster: 800 mg 5 times a day every 4 hours for 7 days (do not take at night).
Patient with severe renal impairment (CrCl 10 mL/min): 200 mg twice a day every 12 hours.
Herpes zoster with severe renal impairment: 800 mg twice a day every 12 hours.
Herpes zoster with mild renal impairment (CrCl 10-25 mL/min): 800 mg 3 times a day.
Children: Treatment of herpes simplex and Prophylaxis of herpes simplex: in children >2 yr with immune-compromised: Adult dose, children <2 yr: Half of adult dose.
Cream: Apply 5 times a day every 4 hours without night dose.
