Amlodipine besilate
Indications/Uses
HTN. 1st line treatment of myocardial ischemia. As monotherapy or combination therapy w/ other antianginal drugs in patients w/ nitrates &/or β-blockers-refractory angina.
Dosage/Direction for Use
HTN 5 mg once daily. May be increased to max of 10 mg daily. Chronic stable or vasospastic angina 5-10 mg daily. Patients who are small, debilitated, elderly or w/ impaired liver function Initially 2.5 mg once daily.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to dihydropyridine.
Special Precautions
Patients w/ impaired liver function. Pregnancy & lactation. Elderly.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, edema, fatigue, somnolence, nausea, abdominal pain, flushing, palpitation, dizziness. MI, arrhythmia (including ventricular tachycardia & atrial fibrillation), chest pain.
