Each capsule contains: Phenytoin Sodium 100 mg.
Each mL ampoule contains: Phenytoin Sodium 50 mg.
To control the type of epilepsy attacks, tonic-clonic and psychomotor (grand mal and temporal lobus).
Cap: Adults: Initial dose of 300 mg in two divided doses. Usual maintenance dose of 300-400 mg or 3-5 mg/kg BW/day (maximum 600 mg).
Children: Initial is 5 mg/kg BW/day in 2 divided doses, with the recommended maintenance dose is 4-7 mg/kg BW/day.
Powd for inj: Each Phenytoin Inj. should be diluted by 0,9% NaCl and injected IV slowly.
Adults: A loading dose of 10-15 mg/kg should be given by slow IV injection at a rate not exceeding 50 mg/minute. The loading dose is followed by a maintenance dose of 100 mg intravenously every 6-8 hours.
Children: The drug should be administered at a rate not exceeding 1 to 3 mg/kg/min.
Hypersensitivity to phenytoin or other hydantoin.
Pregnancy and lactating women.
Nausea, vomiting, dizziness, ataxia, nystagmus, leukopenia, thrombocytopenia, agranulocytosis, megaloblastic anemia due to deficiency of folic acid.
Phenytoin effect is reduced in the presence of alcohol and phenobarbitone.
Store at temperatures below 25°C and dry.
