Reduction of atherothrombotic events in recent MI, ischemic stroke, or established peripheral arterial disease. Acute coronary syndrome w/o elevation of ST segment (unstable angina or non-STEMI), acute MI w/ ST elevation (STEMI).
Dosage/Direction for Use
Adult & elderly 75 mg as a single dose. Unstable angina or non-STEMI Loading dose: 300 mg, then followed by 75 mg once daily (w/ ASA 75-325 mg/day). STEMI 75 mg/day w/ or w/o loading dose, in combination w/ ASA w/ or w/o thrombolytic agents. Combination treatment should be continued to min 4 wk.
Administration
May be taken with or without food.
Contraindications
Severe liver damage, active pathological bleeding eg, peptic ulcer or intracranial hemorrhage. Lactation.
Special Precautions
Patients at risk of increased bleeding eg, trauma, surgery or other pathologic conditions. Patients w/ liver disease, w/ possible risk of hemorrhagic diathesis; kidney disorders. Pregnancy.
Adverse Reactions
Headache, dizziness, paresthesia, GI or hematological disorders, skin rash, pruritus.
