Adult 2-4 g daily 12 hrly. Max daily dose: 4 g. Childn 40-80 mg/kg/day 6-12 hrly. Max daily dose: 160 mg/kg/day. Neonate To be given 12 hrly. Max daily dose: 80 mg/kg/day.
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to penicillin, sulbactam, cefoperazone, or cephalosporins.
Special Precautions
Liver dysfunction. May cause vit K deficiency in patients w/ poor diet, malabsorption (cystic fibrosis), patients w/ prolonged IV alimentation regimen. Periodic monitoring for organ system dysfunction during extended therapy eg, renal, hepatic & hematopoietic system. Pregnancy & lactation.
Adverse Reactions
Diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, maculopapular rash, urticarial, eosinophilia, drug fever, slight decrease of neutrophil, reversible neutropenia (due to extended therapy), +ve result in Coomb's test, eosinophilia, temporary thrombocytopenia, hypoprothrombinemia, hemolytic anemia, headache, fever, inj pain, chills.
J01DD62 - cefoperazone and beta-lactamase inhibitor ; Belongs to the class of third-generation cephalosporins. Used in the systemic treatment of infections.
